3D apparel design & development
3D garment design and development for your brand.
Explore the shape, details and appearance of your clothing in 3D. Flatfell can develop a garment from your brief or build on an existing design, giving you a digital model to review as the product takes shape.
From a new brief. From an existing design.
For fashion, casual wear, activewear and outdoor projects that need a clearer design direction or a way to review garment decisions before the next development stage.

What you take forward
A digital garment with the views, design details and material or colour variants agreed for your project.
Two ways to start
- From a brief or concept: develop a garment direction from your intended use, aesthetic references, fit and material ideas. You can enquire without existing patterns or technical drawings.
- From an existing design: build on suitable pattern files, a digital model or defined product information. The files are reviewed first to establish what can be reused and what needs development.
What your project can include
- Development of the agreed garment direction in 3D.
- A digital garment in the agreed base size and review setup.
- Views that show the silhouette and relevant design or construction details.
- The agreed material appearances, colourways and design variants.
- Consolidated design revisions and a record of the chosen direction.
- Final images and any editable files expressly included in the proposal.
What helps define the brief
Share the type of garment, intended wearer and use, visual references, desired fit, measurements and material ideas. Tell me what you want the 3D work to help you decide. If patterns or models already exist, include their formats and explain how you plan to use the final files.
How we work
- Review your brief and choose the route that fits the available inputs.
- Agree a design direction, base size, views, variants and review rounds.
- Develop the digital garment and refine it through consolidated feedback.
- Deliver the agreed outputs and identify the next steps for patterns, documentation or sampling.
Use 3D to support product decisions
For example, a digital casual jacket can help you compare pocket placement, proportions and colour combinations before selecting a direction for sampling. This is an illustrative use case. The review setup and level of material detail are chosen for the decisions your project needs to make.
Practical details
Before we begin.
Deliverables, review rounds, schedule and fee are agreed in your proposal.
Do I need patterns before starting?
No. The project can begin with a concept or brief. Creating the garment from that starting point involves different work from visualising an existing pattern, so the proposal identifies the development included.
Does 3D replace physical samples?
3D supports design review. Physical samples remain relevant for confirming fit, fabric behaviour, feel and construction. We can plan how the digital work connects to that validation.
Will I receive editable files or production patterns?
Editable files, production pattern files and their formats are agreed separately in the scope. A package of 3D images does not automatically include those deliverables. Tell me which files you need and how they will be used.
How many views, colourways and revisions are included?
The proposal sets the quantities and the design direction to develop. Additional variants or a new direction can be quoted before work proceeds. Feedback is grouped into agreed review rounds.
Can this be combined with a tech pack?
Yes. The chosen design can feed into pattern development and technical documentation. A combined proposal identifies the outputs at each stage and the decisions needed before moving forward.
